Identity
From March 19 to April 12, the main hall of the Zurab Tsereteli Museum of Modern Art will host the solo exhibition “Identity” by young Georgian artist Natalia Lashkhi.
Natalia Lashkhi works in series, searching for images that metaphorically reflect her inner states and emotions. Her series are united by a common theme connected to existential questions and the tension between the conscious and the unconscious. The artist often leaves her works untitled, believing that art belongs to the realm of sensations and stands above verbalization. In doing so, she leaves space for viewers to experience and interpret the works through their own perceptions and personal experiences.
Natalia Lashkhi was born in 1995 in Tbilisi. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts named after Apollon Kutateladze. In 2020, she studied for one semester at the National Academy of Art through the Erasmus+ Programme.
The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions and projects both in Georgia and internationally. During her studies at the Academy, she was selected to participate in the 2017 international workshop in Florence within the framework of the Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco project. In 2019 she took part in the international plein air and exhibition at the Palais Sommer festival in Dresden.
In 2022 several of her works were presented in the EuroArt22 project in Valletta, and the same year she was invited to an international plein air in Nida. In 2023 and 2024 she participated in plein air sessions held at the St. Trinity Monastic Complex in Troškūnai. Her works have also been featured in auctions organized by RiaBid and in the BI auction held at Iart Gallery.
Natalia Lashkhi’s works are held in private collections in Georgia, Germany, Austria, the United States, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, and China.
